Recipe cards, Google recipe schema, reader reviews and an automatic Pinterest image for every recipe, free and open source. Recipe WP Pro adds affiliate tools, recipe versioning, pin templates and recipe checks.
HANFORD, Calif., October 2026 — 559 Digital LLC today released Recipe WP, a recipe plugin for WordPress, along with Recipe WP Pro, a paid add-on for food bloggers. The free plugin is available now at recipewp.com/download. Pro starts at $39 a year.
Recipe WP was built and tested on a live site first. PastaPosts.com runs it today with more than 2,200 recipes, which is how every feature was checked at real scale before release.
Built for people who actually post recipes
Recipe WP is for food bloggers, home cooks with a recipe collection, and community recipe sites. It handles the parts every recipe site needs: a clean recipe card, search-friendly markup, printing, reviews and sharing.
It works with any WordPress theme. It is not tied to one cuisine either: a site can cover everything, or focus on one thing (a Pasta preset ships in the box).
Recipe WP is licensed under the GPL. Your recipes, reviews and email list are stored in your own WordPress database, so they move with your site.
What’s in the free plugin
The free plugin is the full recipe plugin, not a trial. It runs on any number of sites.
- Recipe card with Jump to Recipe and Print links, shown automatically on recipe pages. Also available as a block and a shortcode for any post.
- Google recipe schema (JSON-LD), including grouped instructions, ratings and photo crops in 16:9, 4:3 and 1:1.
- Serving scaling and US/Metric toggle. Readers change servings and every amount recalculates as kitchen-friendly fractions. The print page follows their choice.
- Ratings and reviews built on WordPress comments, so moderation and spam filtering work as usual.
- Reader submissions. A front-end form lets readers send recipes. They arrive as Pending, and the submitter is credited on the card when published.
- Recipe filters and categories. Dropdown filters with live counts, a “Ready in” time filter, and suggested category tags from each recipe’s ingredients.
- Recipe collections. Numbered recipe books and roundups (“40 Pasta Sauces”) with their own pages, an optional PDF download and email-for-download sign-ups.
- Index Card pin images. Every recipe gets a tall 1000×1500 Pinterest image, drawn automatically from its photo, title and first ingredients.
- Kitchen-Tested stamp for recipes you’ve made yourself, shown on the card and the pin.
- Cookbook importer that brings in large recipe books in batches. 2,215 recipes were imported in one run during testing.
Recipe WP Pro: for blogs that earn
Pro is an add-on that sits on top of the free plugin. Each feature is a module you switch on under Recipes → Pro, and modules you leave off load no code.
- Monetization. A “What I Used” box on each recipe with your products and store links. Clicks are counted through your own /go/ links without cookies or IP addresses, and store links are checked weekly for breakage.
- Recipe Versioning. Every real change to a recipe is saved as a version with a short note (“Cut the salt in half”). Compare any two versions side by side and restore with one click.
- Pin Templates. Five pin layouts (Index Card, Magazine, Recipe Sheet, Bold Banner, Clean) with your colors, fonts and logo, so your pins don’t look like everyone else’s.
- Recipe Intelligence (Business). Checks every recipe on save for missing times, photos and servings, and for ingredients the steps mention but the list leaves out. It was tuned on 2,230 real recipes to keep false alarms down.
| Plan | Price | Sites | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Unlimited | The full recipe plugin |
| Pro | $39/yr | 1 | Monetization, Recipe Versioning, Pin Templates, a year of updates and email support |
| Business | $79/yr | Up to 5 | Everything in Pro, plus Recipe Intelligence and priority support |
Plans renew yearly through PayPal. Local and staging sites don’t count toward the site limit. If you stop renewing, Pro features switch off, and your recipes, products and version history stay in your database. See pricing.
Also available: the Recipe Paper theme
Recipe Paper is a free companion block theme with an old-cookbook look: aged paper, index-card recipe cards and typewriter labels. It’s designed around Recipe WP but works as a regular WordPress theme too. Download Recipe Paper.
To see both in action, visit PastaPosts.com. For setup help, the Recipe WP help center covers installation, settings and common questions, and readers can ask new ones on the questions page.
